Learn life-saving techniques with our hands-on CPR training.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Course content....
- Manage an unconscious, breathing casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise
- Manage an unconscious, non-breathing adult and infant
- How to perform effective CPR
- How to use an AED
- Handing over to emergency services
- Reviewing an incident
Participants are required to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor as well as on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
Pre-requisites
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Learners undertaking the express course must have previously completed the HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
Learners will be required to provide a copy of their expiring Statement of Attainment on the day of their face-to-face course.
Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.
Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and a practical assessment for CPR techniques. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.
The statement of attainment is valid for 12 months and should be updated annually.

PROVIDE FIRST AID
HLTAID011
(includes CPR) Nationally recognised
Comprehensive first aid training with practical skills and knowledge. The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Signs, symptoms and management of the following conditions and injuries:

| allergic reaction | head, neck and spinal injuries |
| anaphylaxis | hypothermia |
| asthma | hyperthermia |
| non-life-threatening and life-threatening bleeding | minor wounds |

| diabetes | shock |
| drowning | sharps injuries |
| envenomation - all current treatments | stroke |
| eye injuries |
Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued;
